| Description: The Boston Terrier was developed to be a companion and watchdog. He is easy to care for, small in size and has a delightful disposition, he is a odor free dog who rarely sheds. Loves to go for walks or rides in the car, he is one of the most popular breeds in the United States because of his affection nature. The Boston Terrier is a compact, well-muscled dog, his head should be in proportion to his size. A joy to have around, he can sometimes be determined and self willed. |
Health: *Major Concerns: none *Minor Concerns: cataract, PDA, patellar luxation, stenotic nares *Occasionally seen: deafness, hydrocepalus, esophageal achalasia, distichiasis, persistent, right aortic arch *Suggested tests: none *Note: This breed does not tolerate the heat and is sensitive to anesthesia. It is prone to corneal abrasions. Caesarian deliveries are commonly needed. |
| Temperment: The Boston is devoted and sensitive to it's owner's wishes and moods. It is well-mannered indoors but saucy and playful whenever the chance arises. Somewhat stubborn, it is nonetheless clever and learns readily. It is reserved with strangers, and some may be aggressive toward strange dogs. Some bark a lot. |
